SOAR for International Students

Attending SOAR, Georgia Southern鈥檚 orientation is your required first step before enrolling in classes. This program, offered both online and in-person, equips you with the tools you鈥檒l need to thrive. SOAR allows you to gain a better understanding of campus life, engage with your academic advisor, and connect with fellow students, ensuring a smooth transition to becoming a Georgia Southern Eagle.

NOTE: Dual Enrollment students have specialized orientation requirements and SOAR is not required for readmit, transient, and post-baccalaureate students.

As you prepare for your first day of classes, we want to ensure you complete all the steps to be successful and have a smooth transition. Some items are time-sensitive and can directly impact your enrollment. Review the enrollment checklist and let us know if you need any assistance!

SOAR Session Dates, Times and Registration Fees

Students are required to attend a SOAR session, in its entirety, to receive and retain a course schedule. For convenience, sessions are offered both in-person and virtually based on student preference. Freshman SOAR sessions are full-day sessions and students are required to be available from 8:00 a.m. 鈥 5:00 p.m. Fall 2025 registration will open later this year.

SOAR Session Date for International Students | Fall 2025

  • Face-to-Face Session 鈥 Thursday, August 7th & Friday, August 8th

Arrival

Residence halls for international students will open on Wednesday, August 6th.  Depending on when you arrive, you may need to spend the night at an airport hotel. A list of Savannah/Hilton Head Airport hotels can be found . There is limited transportation between the airport and campus.  We recommend an Uber, Lyft or taxi for approximately $60 鈥 $100 to the Statesboro campus.

SOAR registration is required to be connected with an academic advisor for course registration.

How to Register

Follow these instructions to register for your session:

  1. Log into . If you have never accessed your  account, please click 鈥淔irst Time User鈥 to register before being able to log in.
  2. Click SOAR on the New Student Resources tile, then follow the instructions to register and pay for your session. The cost of your SOAR session is $65. Guests are welcome to attend with you for an additional $15/guest.

What to Expect

  • Register for SOAR through your  account. Fall 2025 sessions will be open for registration in January 2025. Registration is required in order to be contacted by your academic advisor.
  • Attend SOAR on the date/time for which you registered. As an incoming international student, it is important to get connected with campus resources, meet the International Student Admissions and Programs (ISAP) team and get involved. During your two-day SOAR session, you will attend in-person sessions with other international students.  Additional information will be emailed to you about this sessions

Tips & Reminders

  • The $65 SOAR fee covers costs associated with SOAR programming, staffing, food, and your SOAR t-shirt.

Accessing your SOAR Confirmation Letter

  • After reserving your SOAR session, you will receive a confirmation email. This will be sent to the email address you listed on your application.
  • A series of follow-up emails will be sent leading up to your SOAR session with additional information.
  • You can always return to your  account and find the 鈥淣ew Student Resources鈥 tab to review your SOAR registration.
