Three Professors Receive Large Grant to Aid Research
Three Georgia Southern professors have recently been awarded a more than $233,000 grant from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to aid their research project titled “Identification of the sources of pathogens in wetland sediments and their influence on beach water quality.” Funded for one year, research is now underway.

U.S. National Tick Collection Temporarily Closes to Visitors; Re-opening Scheduled for Spring 2015
The U.S. National Tick Collection (USNTC) at èapp is temporarily closed to visitors and tours as it prepares for expansion and relocation. The collection will relocate to the Math and Physics building in an effort to provide additional space for specimens, storage, research and improved fire protection. The expected completion date is Spring 2015.

University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby today named èapp’s Charles Patterson, Ph.D., as interim president of Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW).

OneGeorgia Authority Announces $500,000 Grant for Business Incubation and Workforce Development
The OneGeorgia Authority, a financial partner for economic development in Georgia, has announced its decision to grant a $500,000 OneGeorgia Equity Award for the advancement of workforce development in the Statesboro-Bulloch County region. The project, titled “Statesboro-Bulloch Regional Career and Workforce Initiative,” is a collaboration among èapp, the Development Authority of Bulloch County and Ogeechee Technical College.
