Mechanical engineering graduate is ready for duty
Camille Phillips has an aptitude for math, especially calculus. She first discovered her passion for complex applications when she was in high school. Encouraged by her high school calculus teacher to study engineering in college, Phillips gave it a try. This week, she will walk across the commencement stage at ¿ìèapp¶ÌÊÓ for her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

U.S. Department of Commerce invests $2 million to expand business incubator in Statesboro Opportunity Zone
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration is awarding a $2 million grant to the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority so ¿ìèapp¶ÌÊÓ can continue boosting business growth and resiliency efforts by expanding the City Center Business Incubator in downtown Statesboro.

¿ìèapp¶ÌÊÓ now comprises 10 academic colleges with the transition of the University Honors Program to the Honors College. The move provides a growing community of honors students with enhanced experiential learning opportunities including undergraduate research, creative scholarship and the honors thesis, focusing on professional development, interdisciplinary education and global experiences.

Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing to hold virtual Industry Expo
The ¿ìèapp¶ÌÊÓ Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) is hosting its annual Industry Expo virtually for the first time on Dec. 3 from noon to 4 p.m. The expo serves as the culminating event for senior students in computer science, information technology, construction management and all five engineering disciplines.

In July, when most people at ¿ìèapp¶ÌÊÓ were wondering when students, faculty and staff would be able to return to campus, Jordan Wilburn was thinking about the upcoming holiday season. Specifically, Wilburn, who is the Community Engagement Coordinator in the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement, was brainstorming ways to keep the Holiday Helper Tree, a 27-year-old holiday tradition, alive during the COVID-19 pandemic.
