The M.Ed. in Counselor Education program, School Counseling concentration is open to those with a bachelor鈥檚 degree from a regionally accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50 (on a 4.0 scale) on all previous undergraduate and graduate coursework.

- A statement of purpose, no more than 1,000 words, indicating your reasons for pursuing graduate study and how admission to this program relates to your professional goals.
- A current r茅sum茅.
- Two letters of recommendation. Have letter writers send them directly to gasc@georgiasouthern.edu.
- A completed 鈥淒isclosure and Affirmation Form鈥 that addresses misconduct disclosure, the Code of Ethics for Educators and tort liability insurance.
- Transcripts for all prior college- and graduate-level work. Copies can be uploaded with your application; official copies sent directly to the College of Education will be required for admitted students.

International transcripts must be evaluated by a -accredited evaluation service. The evaluation must be course by course and include a GPA.
Application Deadlines
Students are admitted to begin in both the fall and summer terms. The application deadline for both is February 1. The application process occurs only once each year.

The M.Ed. Counselor Education program, School Counseling concentration at Georgia Southern is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
The M.Ed. in Counselor Education program has two concentrations: Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. Both concentrations are accredited by CACREP (the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs).
The Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development anticipates that graduates of the M.Ed. in Counselor Education, School Counseling concentration will be eligible to seek professional certification by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission as a certified School Counselor (P-12).
The Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development has determined the required classes and educational activities of this academic program qualify a graduate to take the GACE exam for School Counselor (P-12) certification in Georgia. The Department has not determined whether this program satisfies the requirements of all states and territories for School Counseling certification.
The Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development has determined the required classes and educational activities of this academic program qualify a graduate to become a Nationally Board-Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) upon finishing additional requirements for NCC and LPC distinctions.
Professional Certification Disclosure
The College of Education anticipates that graduates of the Counselor Education Certification program will seek state licenses or certifications.
