Need to Know
Every student who parks on campus 鈥� commuter or resident 鈥� must register their vehicle.
Every Faculty and Staff member also must register their vehicle.
Registration is free on the Swainsboro Campus, but it is required. Public Safety will be actively patrolling lots during enforcement hours, so don’t wait until the first week to register.
How to Register Your Vehicle
- Log into your My Georgia Southern portal.
- Under Parking and Transportation, select Parking Permits and Citations.
- Select Order a Permit.
- Enter your vehicle’s license plate, make, and model, then select either the Swainsboro Resident or Swainsboro Commuter Parking Permit.
- (Recommended) Opt in to text alerts for real-time updates.
Georgia Southern uses License Plate Recognition (LPR) 鈥� your license plate is your permit. No physical decal will be mailed to you, so make sure your plate number is entered correctly.
Important: Never back into or pull through a parking spot. Enforcement vehicles read plates as they drive by, so your plate must remain visible from the driving aisle at all times.

- Swainsboro Commuters: Lots 3, 6, 7, and 13
- Swainsboro Residents: Lots 9 and 14
- Faculty Staff: Designated Areas
Enforcement Hours
- Swainsboro Commuter lots: Monday鈥揊riday, 7:30 a.m. 鈥� 5:00 p.m.
- Swainsboro Residential lots: enforced 24/7 鈥� never park in a residential lot without a residential permit, even briefly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Log into My Georgia Southern, go to Parking Permits and Citations, select your active permit number, then Modify Account Vehicles. You can choose a temporary or permanent change. All registered vehicles must belong to you or an immediate family member.
With a valid commuter permit, you may park in any commuter lot. Residents must park in their assigned residential lot.
Commuter lots are enforced Monday鈥揊riday, 7:30 a.m.鈥�5:00 p.m. Residential lots are enforced 24/7.
