快猫app短视鈥檚 Office of International Programs and Services will celebrate the cultures of other nations during International Education Week (IEW) from Nov. 12 through 16. IEW, a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, is a chance to celebrate the advantages of international education and exchange worldwide. Events for the week will include speakers, a food festival and a fashion show, among others, and they will take place on the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses. All events are open to the public. 鈥淚nternational Education Week is a time to recognize and celebrate nationwide the importance of world languages, of study abroad and of appreciating and learning about other countries and cultures,鈥 Dorothee Mertz-Weigel, Ph.D., Director of International Programs and Services, said. Highlighted events for International Week include:   Monday, Nov. 12, 6 p.m. Film: 鈥淎 Thousand & One Journeys: The American Arabs鈥 Statesboro Campus: Russell Union, Room 2048 The Arabic Club presents the groundbreaking documentary, 鈥淎 Thousand & One Journeys: The American Arabs,鈥 which shares the untold story of almost 200 years of contributions those who immigrated to the United States from the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf have made to the American fabric. This film challenges the myths and stereotypes that surround the Arab-American community.   Tuesday, Nov. 13, Noon (Armstrong Campus), 6 p.m. (Statesboro Campus) Keynote Speakers: Audrey Scott and Dan Noll Statesboro Campus: Nessmith-Lane Auditorium 1915 Armstrong Campus: Ogeechee Theater Dubbed as BBC鈥檚 favorite 鈥渢ravel ninjas,鈥 husband-and-wife storytelling and photography team Audrey Scott and Dan Noll will talk about their experiences with global travel in “Around the World in 10 Years: A Real Life Amazing Race.” Scott and Noll have been to more than 90 countries, and they will discuss the importance of immersing oneself in local cultures.   Wednesday, Nov. 14, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Festival: Taste of the World Armstrong Campus: Student Union Residential Plaza Taste of the World is a celebration of cultures from various parts of the globe. Activities include a fashion show, traditional food, Henna artists, Asian calligraphy lessons, study abroad info and more. All activities are free to the campus communities.   Wednesday, Nov. 14, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Taste Your Way Around the World Statesboro Campus: Dining Commons Dining Commons will offer traditional dishes from Japan, Italy, Australia, Brazil, Russia and Morocco.   Thursday, Nov. 15, 7 p.m. International Fashion Show and Bazaar Statesboro Campus: Williams Center Multipurpose Room Models from Georgia Southern will showcase outfits from all continents at the International Fashion Show and Bazaar. There will also be free food, live performances and door prizes.   Thursday, Nov. 15, 6 to 8 p.m. Film: 聽鈥淟iving on One Dollar鈥 Armstrong Campus: Ogeechee Theatre International Student Organization presents 鈥淟iving on One Dollar,鈥 a film set in rural Guatemala, where four friends battle illness, parasites and hunger as they experiment with living on just $1 a day for eight weeks. 13th annual International Festival brings worldwide cultures to Statesboro

Brazil, France, India, Japan, the United Kingdom and many other countries will be represented in Statesboro on October 27 at the 13th annual International Festival. International students from the 快猫app短视 Global Ambassadors Program will help local elementary, middle and high school students set up booths for the festival, which will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mill Creek Regional Park. Angie Threatte, International Programming and Events coordinator, said the festival has not only grown over the years but also has given the University a chance to connect with local communities. 鈥淭he goal of the festival is bringing diversity, as well as an educational, cross-cultural awareness and understanding to Bulloch County and the surrounding communities,鈥 she said. 鈥淲e could not do it without the support of the various sponsors, schools who participate and the volunteers 鈥 everyone involved in the organization of the festival has contributed to its continued growth and success.鈥 The festival will feature live singing and dance performances throughout the day as well as a Global Village, where students from local schools will have booths set up with information on each school鈥檚 chosen country. Attendees will be able to create free international arts and crafts, including Brazilian carnival masks, English crowns, Eiffel Tower replicas, Lotus flowers, Japanese hanging fish, face painting, henna hand tattoos, calligraphy, origami and much more. There will also be an international food court where people can sample foods from China, India, Jamaica, Japan, Latin American countries, Nigeria, the Philippines, Thailand and Mexico. Georgia Southern Hosts 10th Annual International Festival

The 快猫app短视 Office of International Programs & Services will host the 10th Annual International Festival on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mill Creek Regional Park.

During the festival, students from elementary, middle and high schools in the area can show off their work in the Global Village – a series of booths inspired by different countries. Georgia Southern Global Ambassadors help to make the booths educational and interesting for everyone. Germany, Ghana, Japan, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Trinidad & Tobago and Vietnam will be the countries that will be represented in the village. Visitors can also enjoy World Stage performances throughout the day. Marcel Portilla Band, Bollywood & Classical Fusion Dance presented by the South Asian Student Organization (SASO), Grupo Folkl贸rico Uruguayo Cimmarr贸n, Conjunto Orgullo Paname帽o and Confucius Institute Dance Troupe will perform dances and music from their cultures. Performances will begin at 10:30 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. An International Food Court will offer a variety of dishes from around the globe. Guests can purchase foods from Argentina, Greece, India, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Mexico. The World Craft Bazaar will feature unique items for purchase from Haiti, Ghana, China, Taiwan, Kenya, Korea, Trinidad and the Philippines. Everyone can participate in the 鈥淚t鈥檚 a Small World鈥 international arts and craft area as well. This is a free area where children can learn to make Chinese drums, Ancient Egyptian necklaces, Spanish fans, Thailand lotuses, Mexican Dia de los Muertos, Brazilian carnival masks and crowns. Children can also participate in face painting and henna hand prints. The festival is the result of a collaboration with the Bulloch County Board of Education, the Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department, the Statesboro Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Statesboro-Bulloch County Chamber of Commerce. The event is free and open to the public.
